GENDER INEQUALITY TOWARDS THE MALE DOMINATION IN THE MOVIE "ENOLA HOLMES 2"

Gender inequality is a social problem where there is discrimination or unequal treatment between men and. This gender discrimination is the basis for the study of the movie "Enola Holmes 2". The objectives of this study are to analyze the forms of gender inequality and how gender inequality affects the female characters in the movie Enola Holmes 2.
This study applied descriptive qualitative method. The researcher collected the data by watching the movie Enola Holmes 2, reading transcripts, collecting dialogues, monologues or images containing the topic of study, and categorizing them into various forms of gender inequality. In this study, the researcher applied theory of gender inequality by Walby (Akgul, 2017) and the methods of Miles, Huberman and Saldana (2014).
The results of this study obtained 37 data were then categorized into five forms of gender inequality, including paid employment, culture, state, sexuality and violence. However, from the data obtained, household production is the only form of gender inequality that the researcher did not find in this study. These five forms then show that male domination makes the female characters to stage a rebellion. In this study, the researcher obtained 5 data that showed the occurrence of the feminist movement. The feminist movement emerged as an effect of gender inequality that pushed the female characters in the movie Enola Holmes 2 to fight for equality. These feminist movements were proven by rebellion and proving themselves to society that they were capable of doing things that only men could do.
