Background: Gouty arthritis is a disease of the joints caused by high levels of uric acid in the blood exceeding normal limits, which causes a buildup of uric acid in the joints and other body organs that cause pain in the joints, pain and inflammation. Pain can be treated using pharmacological and nonpharmacological methods, providing progressive muscle relaxation therapy, including non-pharmacological measures which are considered effective in treating pain. Objective: To understand the description of the implementation of nursing care for families suffering from Arthritis Gout pain with progressive muscle relaxation therapy. Method: This case study uses a descriptive method
with a nursing care approach which includes assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation and evaluation. The subject in this case study was one person who was diagnosed with gouty arthritis pain. Results: After providing progressive muscle relaxation therapy during 4 days of home visits, the results showed that there was a decrease in the pain scale from a pain scale of 5 (moderate) down to a pain scale of 2 (mild).
